I am trans, and choosing between these platforms is not a question of which has the nicer interface. On the mass market ones I get sorted into a category by a form and then argued with about it by strangers who found me by accident. On the specialist community ones I get read by people who have at least encountered the concept before, and the arguments are rarer and better informed. That difference is the whole of my platform strategy.
Twenty nine, north of the river, switch, five years in. I am not fragile about any of this and I am not here to teach anybody from scratch. I am simply not spending my evenings on it.
What I want is ongoing and unremarkable. I lead more often than I do not. I like structure, a fixed rhythm, tasks and expectations that apply on ordinary days rather than special ones. The most romantic thing anybody has ever done for me was keep a shared calendar properly.
Not looking for anybody whose interest in me is a category rather than a person. Not looking to be somebody's first, unless they are honest that that is what this is, in which case I am often fine with it. And not looking for anyone who needs me to justify which half of a board I belong on, because that conversation has never once ended anywhere good.
