Two platforms, four years, and I have seen the same person appear on both exactly three times. One of them holds people who have been doing this for a decade and treat a first message as correspondence. The other holds people who arrived last spring and treat it as a doorbell. Same city, same subway, two populations that apparently have no idea the other exists.
Forty one, Queens, switch, nine years in. I am not hedging by running both. I am running both because they contain different people and I have not decided which I actually want to be around.
What the split does to me is the strange part. I am a slightly different person in each. On the slow one I am patient and thorough. On the fast one I am funnier and much less honest. Neither is a performance exactly, and both of them are me at a different speed.
What I want is ongoing and either direction, weighted towards leading, with real structure rather than a mood. Weekly, terms discussed, a check in that happens on the ordinary weeks.
Not looking for anybody who thinks the other sort of platform is beneath them. Not looking to be somebody's slow option. And not looking to keep this up for another four years, which is the honest reason for the advert.
