The platform everyone here calls the serious one is built around evenings. Conversations at nine, things happening at eight, people at their most talkative between seven and midnight. I am on shift from six at night until six in the morning, four nights out of seven, and have been for eleven years. On a platform that rewards presence I am permanently absent.
Forty one, the Bronx, submissive, eight years in. I am a dispatcher. The hours are the reason I own anything at all and they are not going to change before I retire.
What I have found is that the models which deal you people are the only ones indifferent to when I happen to be awake, and they are also the shallowest thing going. So the choice is between depth I cannot attend and speed that arrives nowhere. I have settled on writing long adverts instead, which at least does not care what time it is.
I want a standing arrangement rather than something occasional. Tasks for the days off, contact by message on the nights, a fixed weekly thing when the rota allows one.
Not looking for anybody who reads two quiet days as a snub, because it means I slept. Not looking for a Friday person. And not looking for a dominant who wants me to find different work, which somebody proposed in month two as though it were a compromise.
