Three platforms, three inboxes and a permanent background hum of people I owed a reply to. I quit two of them in April, kept the one where people write at length, and the change was immediate. I sleep better, I answer properly, and I have had two real conversations instead of eleven shallow ones. I am aware this reads like a man who has found a system. It is not a system. It is subtraction.
Forty, Brooklyn, dominant, thirteen years in, one arrangement that ran four years and ended when she moved for work with my blessing and my considerable regret.
What I noticed is that each model was making me a slightly different person. On the fast one I was brisk and faintly performative. On the community one I was careful, because people there remember things for years. The written board is the closest to how I actually am at home, which is quieter than any of it.
I want an ongoing dynamic with a submissive who wants a structure rather than an experience. Weekly, service led, terms written down, a review every few months.
Not looking for somebody in their first fortnight of thinking about this, though I am happy to point them somewhere useful. Not looking for anything at short notice. And not looking to be one of three platforms in somebody's rotation, which I say as a man who was recently exactly that.
